History of the company

Our roots go back to 1946

Geological Survey of Slovenia

Our origins date back to 1946, when the Government of the People’s Republic of Slovenia established the Geological Survey for Slovenia. This marked the transfer of geological and related research on Slovenian territory from predominantly Austrian institutions into Slovenian hands.

GZL

Following several reorganizations, the Geological Survey of Ljubljana (GZL) was established in 1954 as an independent, self-financing economic institution.

Geological Survey of Ljubljana

In 1974, the Geological Survey of Ljubljana was reorganized into several autonomous units (TOZD) operating within the GZL framework.

IGGG

The next major change occurred in 1990, when GZL was restructured into six independent companies that continued to cooperate within an interest association under the name Geological Survey of Ljubljana. After this transformation, geological research was represented by the Institute for Geology, Geotechnics and Geophysics (IGGG), which, shortly after Slovenia’s independence, assumed the role of the national geological survey.

In 1998, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia restructured IGGG into the public research institute Geological Survey of Slovenia and the commercial enterprise Geoinženiring d.o.o.

Geoinzeniring D.O.O

In 2007, Geoinženiring became part of the company Projekt d.d. Nova Gorica.

Geoinzeniring D.O.O

In 2024, Geoinženiring regained its independence and financial self-sufficiency, inheriting all the experience and equipment accumulated over 80 years of operations.
